After all the gaga
over ALSIceBucketChallenge, people started with so many other bucket challenges
which were nothing but just time pass over social media. I mean making
donations should be personal and not made a publicity stunt. People who
wouldn't even know what ALS was were simply taking this challenge and posting
videos, just to fetch some likes/comments on social media?
If you want to really make difference, it can be done without making a big deal
of it. Even if you want to make a big deal and show people what you do, make
some real donations. Someone sensible started this #RiceBucketChallenge in
India and it was quite a good idea but what was the outcome? Many likes on
social media but fewer actual donations. This is like those pictures
circulating on Facebook, like this picture to help the needy.
If you really care, look what your country needs from you; help those. Just look!! There are kids on street that
doesn't have good sanitation/drinking water/Food. There are old aged people who
have no homes. There are diseases like Cancer, tuberculosis which is killing
people in India. I'm sure you can think of many such, help and support these if
you really care. If you want to make a difference to the society, start
from your own neighborhood. It makes sense for Americans to take up that
challenge as they ALSBucketChallenge is raising money for about 30,000 people suffering from ALS in
the USA. Do you think your country isn't having any big problems?
These
are just my thoughts, no offense to anyone who took up this challenge, it might
be for fun or to fetch some likes or you might have really donated and made
some difference.
