Friend Vs Unknown

Friends around me starts praising celebrities when they see their interviews about struggle stories and talks how big a fan he or she is to them. And when their own friends leave jobs and struggle each day to achieve what they dream of, they get bullied or counselled about doing regular jobs. This made me wonder why wouldn’t they encourage their own folks to achieve something bigger and Praise and become fan of some unknown who has already achieved.
Here I am jotting down few of such incidents I have come across where people blindly support unknown people and not their own friends.

I work almost 14 hours a day

For Friend: Dude, you should live your life, what will you do working so much!
For Unknown: OMG! How do you manage time?

I can't give much time to Family or Friends

For Friend: You never have time for us, so we don't usually include you in our plans. You are a spoil sport!
For Unknown: What a dedication and Focus!

I Quit my job to Pursue my dream

For Friend: Are you mad? All these things won't work out. You are wasting your time.
For Unknown: I wish I could also pursue my passion

Facebook Page

For Friend: What will I get if I like your page?
For Unknown: What a brilliant work, *likes*

I'm just quoting few statements which I came across and not generalizing that all friends are the same. Many have genuinely supported me amongst my friends itself.
But I have been lucky that I have met some amazing bunch of people through social media, who have been supporting me without any expectations and they mean more than a friend to me. I'm just a unknown identity to them!

Support each other and grow or criticize and stay small!

A letter to my Future Self!

When you were 10, you wanted to play with expensive toys,
But you made books your best friend.
When you were 11, you wanted to join dance class,
But learned on your own as you could't afford it.
When you were 12, you wanted to go to fantasy parks,
But you played on streets and found happiness.
When you were 13, you saw terrible things,
But you believed you can change it when you grow up.
When you were 14, you wanted a badminton kit,
But you played till State level with a normal racket.
When you were 15, many distractions came by,
You resisted them all and topped in School.
When you were 17, you wanted to take up only Badminton,
You understood your responsibility and studied instead.
When in Engineering, you wanted to go out party,
Instead you did part time jobs to afford your books.
When you had heartbreaks and you just wanted to go off track,
You chose to cry yourself to sleep and shine bright during day.

Smaller or bigger dreams, You have achieved everything
Without harming or walking over somebody else.
Even when some people around were cruel to you,
You have helped the needy and you have been kind.
With all this, Your family has always supported you
And Nurtured you to be a good human being.

I write this to you to so that you remember your roots and the choices you have made in your life. Do not let anyone else define you or defame you. People who badmouth about you without knowing your life are only showcasing their character and not yours. Stay humble and Be Kind because that is what differentiates you from all those who try to bully or harass you!

We are What We Nurture!

Time and again, when I read about some bad news I get into thoughts about why someone does something wrong. Is it the type of environment they are brought up in that they don't realize it is bad or are they angry with the society that they don't care for others? Whatever the reason they might have got I still believe nothing justifies for someone to do terrible things to other person.

I happened to take office cab in the evening few days back and sadly I was the only one that day in the cab. Driver was driving fine but there was a two wheeler ahead and he horned twice so that he gives some space. Out of nowhere the rider got angry, stopped his vehicle. Abused the driver, pulled him out of his seat and hit him. I was in shock about what was happening. Since it was a Tempo Traveler, I could not even see the vehicle number and glad that few people came and made these two start moving.
I wonder why was he so aggressive, what was the need for him to actually beat another person without him doing any mistake.
I asked my cab driver why didn't he take down his bike number or beat him back. He said, these things keep happening ma'am and they are like rowdies. I don't want to get into fights and lose my job.

I was having a conversation with another cab driver few days ago and I happened to tell him this above incident, and then our conversation started. He told me how he used to be short tempered and has fought with many people on road, and he has even spent whole day in jail. There I stopped him and asked why would you do that, why get into fights unnecessarily. He said "my dad worked in KSTRC, he was good man, Married my mom who was of different caste and hence we had no relatives. Everyone were against us, but we were a happy family. After few years we met with accident where only I and my brother survived. I was basically angry with everyone and did not know what to do of with my life, but had to lead it.
Since I did not know how to channelize my anger I used to get into all these fights. But since 3 years I’m calm. I know I can't afford to go to jail or get hurt. I have a brother, who looks up to me now and I should make sure he gets the education I didn't.

Talking to these people and after some introspection, only one thing I can conclude is If we want to be good, we will be no matter what. And hey being good here I refer only about not hurting anyone else physically. As being good by nature differs with each ones perspective, lets not even go there.
Only we can nurture the goodness in us. How much ever others influence us in a good or bad way, it’s up to us to choose what we want to be.

What do you think?

Thoughts of my conscience!

Almost once every week that I see someone on the road asking for lift. Not sure if everyone comes across this or I travel in such roads where people do not hesitate taking lifts. Oh by the way these are all men, of course women won’t or can’t ask lift from a stranger when even regular cabs aren't safe for them.. how will they trust strangers..!

So coming back to me seeing some strangers asking for lift.. my heart tells me to stop my vehicle and drop that person in need. But my mind says NO, you might get into trouble. I have heard many stories around people getting hurt or looted when they give lift to strangers. I being a paranoid person can’t stop thinking of those scenarios happening to me.

So every time I see someone looking for a drop, I look at him and almost wanting to stop but just flee away. And the whole way all I could think is did I do wrong by not helping someone in need, what if that person was in urgent need of drop. Then my brain takes over asking what if that person had a weapon and had bad intentions behind asking lift.

I felt guilty every time I did not stop and help someone who wanted lift, then came a fine day when this small boy on a flyover was looking for lift.. Without listening to my brain I just stopped blindly. Spoke to him about his school and exams while on the way and dropped him. I felt GOOD! I mean if we live in a society where we are scared to help others in need what kind of living is that.

I felt being optimistic is the only key to stay and be happy. You have a hope for the future if you can keep up your optimism. When I got the smile back from the kid after dropping there was hope that not everyone is bad. I should continue to be helping positively.

One other example I would like to recall here is, there was this girl whom I just knew from social media. She needed a place to crash at night as her train was reaching Bangalore late at night. I offered her to stay over at my place and she obliged. No big deal right? When my friend called me that night and I mentioned about this situation to her, she yelled at me saying if I am out of my mind calling a stranger to stay at home. It’s not that she is a bad person but she is SCARED. But this incident gave me a friend who I like to talk with. And makes me be optimistic about making new friends. After all friends are a strangers at the beginning.

Thanks to https://housing.com/lookup that made be recall and share these incidents with you all.

With this all I am saying is let’s try to do good deeds on every day basis and reinstate trust in each other.

Life made easy with e-commerce sites!

Those days are gone when my family used to head out every month to shop groceries for home. Stocking up all the essentials for a month was very important. When I say family, mostly Mom used to go and get these with the huge list she made. I or my brother would accompany some times when we weren't feeling too lazy. But still it so used to happen, that we miss getting one or two items or its obvious few items would get over in middle of the month. Those are the days I curse as Mom used to ask either bro or me to go get them.

With our busy schedules now it’s very hard to take out time for grocery shopping, once a month is fine but not every now and then. Or say vegetables and fruits shopping which we cannot stock up for more days.  Also we couldn't expect mom to go out every time to buy things. As a solution came e-commerce websites which allows the grocery shopping with so much ease.

My Inspiration!

We have all heard from our teachers or leaders say that we should work in a team to get better results. Team work is good but in life you will have to do most of the things on your own. It is you who can help yourself achieve what you want. But I personally feel it is good to have someone with us in that journey to talk to or #lookup to. So here is my story on the same thought for www.housing.com.

I have been a good student who scored more than average marks in school and got into good colleges without any major hurdles. I’m also favorite kid to parents who is good in sports and cultural activities too. Now I have got a good job through which I’m leading a decent livelihood.
But if I just pause and think through, there are so many instances where in I always had my brother playing a major role inspiring me or just being there as my support system.

Things that define me!

When I saw this #UseyourAnd campaign at BlogAdda, I actually started restrospecting on what defines me. I have always heard people talk about women being either intelligent or beautiful, I’m sure most of you too. If a pretty women grows high up in her career than others, it is generalised that she got the opportunity because of her looks. But we wouldn't consider to think she might really be talented to reach there. Can we just stop and think how stereotypical that is! I believe women are Multitalented and hence writing this post to tell you all what defines me.

To start off, I was second topper in my school during 10th std and studied in one of the best colleges during my PUC. I completed my Engineering from RVCE, one of the top colleges in Karnataka. I got through campus placement and i work for one of the good firms as a Software Engineer. Hold on, don't assume I'm just a nerd who studied well and got one boring job. .
Yes, I can Ride bike too!

Bang Bang!

Most of us knew it is a remake of Hollywood movie Knight and Day, but Bang Bang has lot of Bollywood touch in it. If you are an aspiring actor there is a lot of Good acting scenes of Hrithik to learn from and of course
eye pleasing dance moves too. There is this obvious revenge story which we can predict in the beginning of the movie itself and not too many twists and turns even if you haven't watched the Hollywood version. And definitely there couldn't be a better cast than Hrithik to replicate an Hollywood hero. Katrina has done her role well but with an obvious accented Hindi. Good back ground Music and nice cinematography with beautiful locations. On a whole it's a good entertainer.

PS: With this movie length, Hollywood would have made two movies :-D

The Bucket challenge Gaga!

After all the gaga over ALSIceBucketChallenge, people started with so many other bucket challenges which were nothing but just time pass over social media. I mean making donations should be personal and not made a publicity stunt. People who wouldn't even know what ALS was were simply taking this challenge and posting videos, just to fetch some likes/comments on social media?

If you want to really make difference, it can be done without making a big deal of it. Even if you want to make a big deal and show people what you do, make some real donations. Someone sensible started this #RiceBucketChallenge in India and it was quite a good idea but what was the outcome? Many likes on social media but fewer actual donations. This is like those pictures circulating on Facebook, like this picture to help the needy.

If you really care, look what your country needs from you; help those. Just look!! There are kids on street that doesn't have good sanitation/drinking water/Food. There are old aged people who have no homes. There are diseases like Cancer, tuberculosis which is killing people in India. I'm sure you can think of many such, help and support these if you really care. If you want to make a difference to the society, start from your own neighborhood. It makes sense for Americans to take up that challenge as they ALSBucketChallenge is raising money for about 30,000 people suffering from ALS in the USA. Do you think your country isn't having any big problems?

These are just my thoughts, no offense to anyone who took up this challenge, it might be for fun or to fetch some likes or you might have really donated and made some difference.

To be Disciplined or Not to be!

I love riding my moped and I'm a good rider, at least a decent one. Even though i have learned driving a car and got myself license, i usually don't drive it inside city because i lack confidence and wouldn't want to trouble others. But here are few issues i face:

While i ride to work everyday, there is a railway gate on the way. I usually stand behind the vehicles, but most of the bikers, Autos and even cars go on the opposite lane to reach at the front even if a traffic cop standing there shooing them off. I feel pity about this man, who gets no respect and doesn't know how to utilize his power. This place has traffic jam most time of the day, especially more during peak hours or when train passes by. But because of people who do not follow any lane discipline, it not only causes more traffic jam but makes people who are disciplined enough get late to work and get annoyed early mornings.
Source: Google Images

And what's with people taking left or right or U turns without indicating others? And worst are these bikers who cut edges and overtake. Sometimes Accidents are just no accident but some FOOLS negligent driving.

Jumping signals because you can reach your destination 2 minutes early? What if someone doesn't reach his destination ever because of your negligent driving. Would you be able to forgive yourself?

People follow rules only until they get license it seems like. Having good moral and good driving skills has its patience. I might just yell or hit someone one of these days. Facing these issues everyday, makes me wonder why should i follow lane discipline when living around such Uncivilized people !

Happy Mother's day!

From changing our diapers to selecting clothes for graduation she plays the major role in our lives. Her sleepless nights start when she expects to giving birth to child, And you were worried about dark circles when you had to be awake at night to take care of her? Her sleepless nights doesn't seem to end as the kids grow up. You have exam, she is awake to make you coffee, you come home late, she is awake to give you dinner. don't she worry about her dark circles?  She loves you unconditionally whether you are pretty/ugly/Studious/dumb/successful/unsuccessful, such love you would find no where else. She guides you, she encourages you but she would never say no to any good things you do. She is the  beautiful MOTHER we all have:)

I don't understand when people crib about not having anyone to love our to be loved, have you searched your house yet?
We will realize the value of someone only when they are gone, but when you don't have her your world seems upside down. Love and Value her while you can. If you could atleast show the amount of love you give to pets or some guy or girl in your life to your mother, she will be more than happy. Don't you think you should make her happy once in a while who made you happy throughout your life?

I cannot babysit my nephew and niece for just one whole day, I wonder how my mom took care of three kids and never complained. She still pampers us as if we are little kids, she doesn't eat until she feeds us. She knows exactly what we need even without asking. I do not know if there exists God. But mom you are my super power, without you I'm just NOTHING! I'm Blessed to have you mom:-)
